From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of Casimir.
